Emon, Hakim Guides Bangladesh to Big Win Over Zimbabwe in ICC U19 World Cup 2026

Emon, Hakim Guides Bangladesh to Big Win Over Zimbabwe in ICC U19 World Cup 2026

Bangladesh defeated Zimbabwe by 74 runs in the recent ICC U19 World Cup 2026 clash. The bowling masterclass of Iqbal Hossain Emon stunned the young Zimbabwe team, as he took 5 wickets in the second innings of the match. The captain, Azizul Hakim, was also impressive, as he scored 59 runs to give Bangladesh a decent total on the board.

Batting first, Bangladesh started the innings confidently despite losing Rifat Beg early. The partnership between Zawad Abrar and Azizul Hakim was crucial, as it allowed the Tigers to build a solid batting base. The captain played sensibly during the middle overs, as he made sure to hold one end firmly.

After scoring a brilliant fifty, Azizul Hakim got out in the 36th over, courtesy of some tight bowling by Tatenda Chimugoro. His dismissal brought a little pressure on Bangladesh, but Rizan Hossan counterattacked immediately to take the innings forward.

The middle-order batter was looking well set to score a fifty, but he was dismissed by Michael Blignaut on 47 runs. His wicket brought Zimbabwe back into the match, as the lower order failed to provide any impetus to the scoreboard. As a result, Bangladesh managed to score 253 runs at the end of the first innings.

The reply of Zimbabwe in the second innings was quite disappointing, as they failed to counter the bowling plans of the Bangladesh team. Apart from Simbarashe Mudzengerere, none of Zimbabwe’s batsmen managed to put up a fight. Mudzengerere stood at one end firmly to keep the scoreboard rotating, but the required run rate kept rising.

As a result, the Zimbabwean captain got out after scoring 70 runs, giving Bangladesh a clear edge in the match. The rampant Tigers then seized the opportunity and bowled out Zimbabwe on 179 runs, securing a big victory in the match. Although Bangladesh is out of the event, the latest victory allowed them to end the tournament on a high note.
