England Under-19s won the toss, opted to bat first, and the decision proved decisive because they won the match over Australia Under -19s by 27 runs, to progress in the ICC Men’s Under -19 World Cup final.
Chasing 278, Australia Under-19s lost early wickets but found stability through Oliver Peake. The skipper played a superb knock of 100 off 88 balls, keeping Australia in the hunt. Nitesh Samuel added 47, while Aryan Sharma struck a quick 34 to apply pressure late in the chase.
However, regular breakthroughs halted momentum. England’s bowlers shared the workload effectively, with James Minto, Manny Lumsden, Ralphie Albert, and Sebastian Morgan all picking up two wickets each. Australia was eventually bowled out for 250 in 47.3 overs.
Earlier, England’s captain Thomas Rew’s century helped them post a strong total of 277/7. He led the innings with a well-timed century of 110 off 107 balls, 14 fours, and a six. His patience and reserved aggression helped England sail through the middle overs.
Caleb Falconer provided vital support, contributing 40 from 53 balls as the pair stitched together a crucial partnership that pushed England past 190. Late runs came from Ralphie Albert (15), Sebastian Morgan (15), and an unbeaten 28 from Farhan Ahmed, helping England Under-19s post a competitive 277 for 7 in their allotted 50 overs.
Thomas Rew was named Player of the Match for his commanding century, guiding England Under-19s to a well-earned victory.
