In a high-scoring U19 World Cup 2026 2nd semi-final, India U19 beat Afghanistan by 7 seven wickets.
After winning the toss, Afghanistan Under-19 decided to bat first in the semi-final of the high-stakes game at Harare Sports Club. They made a good score of 310/4 in 50 overs. The innings was anchored by explosive centuries from Faisal Shinozada and Uzairullah Niazai. After a quiet powerplay, Afghanistan gained momentum with strong performances in the middle overs.
Shinozada anchored the innings, finishing with 110 off 93 balls, including 15 fours. Niazai scored a fluent 101 off 86 balls, including 12 fours and two sixes. Together, they propelled Afghanistan past the 300-run mark, despite disciplined bowling from India.
In response, India Under-19 aggressively responded, taking advantage of the fielding regulations. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored a blistering 68 in just 33 balls, stamping authority on the chase.
The innings was then expertly guided by Aaron George, who played a match-winning knock of 115 off 104 balls, featuring 15 fours and two sixes. He found excellent support from A Mhatre, who scored 62 off 59 balls.
India eventually finished on 311 for 3 in 41.1 overs. Aaron George was deservedly named Player of the Match for his composed and decisive century.
With this victory, India Under-19 advanced to the final of the ICC Men's Under-19 World Cup, continuing their dominant run in the tournament.
