India vs USA: Suryakumar Yadav Masterclass Secures 29-Run Win After Top-Order Collapse

India vs USA: Suryakumar Yadav Masterclass Secures 29-Run Win After Top-Order Collapse

India survived a major scare at the Wankhede Stadium and stretched their unbeaten run in the tournament, defeating the United States by 29 runs in a T20 World Cup India vs USA match that turned on one decisive middle-order counterattack. With the top order dismantled early, Suryakumar Yadav produced a rescue act that shifted the match from danger to control.

Put in to bat under slightly damp evening conditions, India’s star-heavy lineup never settled. The USA new-ball unit hit hard lengths and found movement, removing Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan early and squeezing the scoring rate. When the sixth wicket fell with just 77 on the board, the contest tilted sharply toward a potential upset.

Suryakumar Yadav, however, rebuilt the innings with calculated aggression. Rather than forcing strokes early, he absorbed pressure, rotated strike, and then expanded. Using angles behind the square and clean hitting down the ground, he stitched the recovery almost single-handedly.

His unbeaten 84 from 49 balls lifted India to 161 for 9, a total that had looked unlikely halfway through the innings. Shadley van Schalkwyk stood out for the USA with a four-wicket burst, but a costly late over released the pressure India had been under.

The chase didn’t begin in USA’s favour, as their top-order got out in the first 4 overs, and left the score board 13/3. Later, their middle-order, including Milind Kumar (34), Sanjay Krishnamurthi (37), and Shubham Ranjane (37), showed some attacking intent, but India’s pace trio quickly reasserted control.

Mohammed Siraj (3/29) struck with the new ball, and Arshdeep Singh (2/18) followed with key middle-overs wickets that halted momentum. Axar Patel (2/24) then tightened the squeeze, conceding little and forcing risky options against the spin.

As the required rate spiked, the contest drifted away from the associate side despite late resistance. The equation ballooned beyond reach, and the final over only confirmed the inevitable, with the USA finishing 29 runs short (132/8 in 20 overs).

India will take the points but also the warning signs after their batting collapse. The USA, meanwhile, earned respect for pushing a heavyweight side deep before experience and execution separated the teams.
