Japan Under-19s signed off their group campaign with a strong 9-wicket win over Tanzania Under-19s at the High Performance Oval.
Elected to bat first, Tanzania never found its footing against a disciplined Japanese bowling attack. Tanzania was dismissed for just 131 in 31.4 overs, the second-lowest total of the tournament.
Japan started with a modest form in front of them, and the openers batted with clarity. After an early wicket, Shotaro Hiratsuka took charge, rotating strike efficiently and punishing loose deliveries. Japan chased it in 18.2 overs, sealing victory with 130 balls to spare.
The result gave Japan its first win of the tournament and a confident finish to the group stage of Men’s U19 World Cup 2026, while Tanzania’s wait for a breakthrough continued.
