Pakistan defeated the USA in a dominant fashion to register back-to-back victories in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. A powerful knock by Sahibzada Farhan allowed the green shirts to post a huge total of 190 in the first innings, which eventually proved to be the match-winning score.
Batting first, Pakistan started the innings strongly, as both Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan played positively to put pressure on the USA bowlers. Shadley van Schalkwyk made huge breakthroughs in the 6th over by dismissing Saim Ayub and Salman Ali Agha, however, Farhan kept striking at a brisk pace to take the scoreboard forward.
His partnership with Babar Azam was crucial, as the latter also batted with confidence in today’s Pakistan vs USA clash. Both players took down the spin attack of the USA positively, showcasing their complete dominance on the field. After scoring a brilliant 73 off just 41 balls, Sahibzada Farhan lost his wicket in the 16th over, courtesy of some fine bowling by Harmeet Singh.
The late order cameo of Shadab Khan then gave the Pakistani innings a strong impetus. He scored 30 off just 12 balls, helping the green shirts to post a huge total of 190 at the end of the first innings.
The reply of the USA in the second innings was quite disappointing, as they failed to match the momentum shown by Pakistan earlier. The opener, Shayan Jahangir, played a positive knock of 49 runs, but didn’t find any support from the other end. The Pakistani spinners kept things tight, as they bowled with slow variations to keep the USA batters guessing at the crease. As a result, the green shirts picked regular wickets during the middle overs, which allowed them to control the game comfortably.
Usman Tariq proved to be the most effective spinner for Pakistan, as he took 3 wickets in the second innings while conceding just 27 runs. Due to his masterful bowling, Pakistan managed to restrict the USA to just 158 runs in the second innings of the match. This allround performance by the green shirts helped them to secure victory by 32 runs, with Sahibzada Farhan winning the Player of the Match award at the end of the contest.
