USA Drafts Pakistan-Born Ehsan Adil for T20 World Cup Clash

USA Drafts Pakistan-Born Ehsan Adil for T20 World Cup Clash

The T20 World Cup 2026 USA squad has made a late change due to injury. The team added Pakistan-born fast bowler Ehsan Adil after a setback in the camp.

Adil replaces right-arm pacer Jasdeep Singh, who injured his right shoulder during a warm-up match against New Zealand on February 5. The Event Technical Committee approved the replacement.

At 32, Adil brings a résumé few in the American dressing room can match. He has worn Pakistan colours in three Tests and six One Day Internationals, operating on demanding pitches and under louder scrutiny. Now, his task is different.

This selection also places the spotlight firmly on the Ehsan Adil USA debut, even though it arrives through circumstance rather than long-term planning. He has been part of the domestic circuit in the United States but has yet to appear in international colours for his adopted side. That changes now.

USA Searching for Balance

The USA management leaned toward know-how instead of raw pace. With the group stage tightening, there was little appetite for risk. Adil’s ability to hit testing lengths and manage pressure overs weighed heavily in the decision.

The USA team comes into this change after a 29-run loss to India at the Wankhede Stadium. Chasing 162, the batting line-up lost wickets quickly and failed to recover. The innings ended at 132 for eight.

That result has pushed urgency into selection calls. The T20 World Cup 2026 USA squad needs stability with the ball, especially with sterner tests ahead.

For Adil, the script writes itself. New badge, but same role and familiar opponents. A chance to influence a tournament that is moving fast and waiting for no one.
