Rew’s century powers England U19 to a Strong total In 1st Semi-Final

In the 1st semi-final between Eng U19 and Aus U19, England posted 277/7 in 50 overs. England Under-19s had an early setback as Ben Dawkins departed cheaply for one, caught off Will Byrom in the second over. Joseph Moores and Ben Mayes attempted to rebuild the innings, adding stability through the middle of the powerplay. Moores scored 25 off 33 balls before being trapped lbw by Aryan Sharma, while Mayes contributed 24 before falling to Hayden Schiller.

The innings found its backbone through skipper Thomas Rew, who anchored the batting display with a composed and authoritative knock. Rew combined patience with controlled aggression, reaching his half-century off 46 balls and later converting it into a well-crafted Thomas Rew century. He eventually scored 110 from 107 deliveries, striking 14 fours and one six while holding the innings together.

Caleb Falconer supported Rew well and was instrumental in the middle overs. Falconer scored 40 off 53 balls, keeping England going in the second powerplay. Their partnership took the score past 190, which put England in command.

Following the dismissal of Falconer, England continued to add value in the form of Ralphie Albert and Farhan Ahmed. Albert contributed a brisk 15, and Farhan Ahmed remained unbeaten on 28 off 26 balls, providing impetus at the end. Sebastian Morgan also added 15 before falling in the final overs.

Hayden Schiller and Naden Cooray claimed two wickets each, and Will Byrom and Aryan Sharma got one each.
