USA thrashed Netherlands in a dominant fashion to register their maiden victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. They won the match by 93 runs, courtesy of a fine bowling performance by Harmeet Singh, who took four wickets in the second innings to rattle the Dutch batting lineup.
USA started the first innings on a high note, as captain Monank Patel and Shayan Jahangir batted superbly in the Powerplay. After the dismissal of Jahangir, Saiteja Mukkamalla showcased his class at the crease by playing shots all around the ground.
Mukkamalla was well supported by Shubham Ranjane at the other end, as both batters kept scoring briskly during the middle overs. Due to their onslaught, Netherlands bowling attack struggled to contain the run-rate, which kept them on the back foot.
After playing a brilliant knock of 79 runs, Saiteja Mukkamalla went back to the pavilion in the 17th over, however, Shubham Ranjane kept playing strongly to take the scoreboard forward. Due to this blazing 48 runs, USA managed to post a big total of 196 at the end of the first innings.
Coming out to chase the target, Netherlands never looked settled at the crease. They lost both openers in the Powerplay, which brought a lot of pressure on the batting lineup. Bas de Leede tried to take the momentum forward, but he also lost wicket in the 7th over due to some tight bowling by Harmeet Singh.
After the dismissal of de Leede, no batter managed to put up any fight at the crease. The dominant USA bowling lineup seized the opportunity and picked up regular wickets to get closer to the victory. As a result, they finally bowled out the Netherlands for just 103 runs, securing a big 93-run victory in the match. Harmeet Singh was named Player of the Match, as his superb bowling effort in the second innings allowed the USA to dismantle Netherlands on a record low total.
