Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Breaks Babar Azam’s Record with 175 Against England

Sooryavanshi is the youngest player to score a century in the U19 World Cup 2026, at the age of 14 and 316 days. He broke Babar Azam’s record, who scored a century at the age of 15 years and 92 days in 2010. He hit 15 fours with 15 sixes, and numerous records were broken in the process. His 175-run knock is the record individual score in any ICC final, both U19 and senior, surpassing 172 by Sameer Minhas in an Asia Cup final.

Sooryavanshi also overtook Raj Bawa’s 162 not out to become India’s highest scorer in U19 World Cups. His total of 30 boundaries equals the joint-most in a Youth ODI innings, matching Hasitha Boyagoda’s previous record of 28 fours and two sixes.

Power-Hitting and Speed

He made 15 sixes, the highest number in a Youth ODI match. This broke his previous record of 14 sixes against the UAE in December. He has struck at least ten sixes on five different occasions, and while all other players combined have done it only three times. His 150 runs off the boundaries alone also surpassed Hasitha Boyagoda’s previous record of 124 runs from boundaries.

The innings showcased blistering pace, with 150 runs coming off just 71 balls, marking the fastest 150 in Youth ODIs. His 55-ball century is the second-fastest in U19 World Cup history, behind Will Malajczuk’s 51-ball ton, and ranks as the fifth-fastest hundred in Youth ODIs overall.

Impact on the Final

Sooryavanshi’s innings not only rewrote record books but also put India in a commanding position in the final. His combination of power, timing, and fearless strokeplay highlighted his potential to be a future star for Indian cricket.
